Terms of Service
Effective 2026-07-16
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Momento desktop application, the website mymomento.gg, and any related services (together, the “Service”), operated by Momento, an independent service run by its founder, established in Belgium. By installing the application or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Momento is an all-in-one capture, clips and highlights toolkit for PC gamers. The desktop application records gameplay locally on your machine — clips, screenshots, long recordings, notes, in-game overlays — without requiring any account. The website hosts the public pages for content you explicitly choose to share, along with documentation.
We provide the Service on a best-effort basis. Features may evolve, be added or removed. We will give reasonable notice for material changes.
2. Purchase, license and refunds
- The desktop application is sold as a one-time purchase on Steam. The purchase itself is processed by Valve Corporation and is also governed by the Steam Subscriber Agreement.
- There is no subscription and no recurring billing: you pay once, the price shown on the store page at the time of purchase, taxes included where applicable.
- We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the application on machines linked to your Steam account, for your own use.
- Refund requests go through Steam and follow Valve’s refund policy, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections (notably for EU consumers).
- Application updates are delivered through Steam at no additional cost.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. The Service requires no account and no registration.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for cheating, botting, automation of gameplay, or any activity that violates the terms of the games we support — Momento only reads the official local data endpoints those games expose, and must not be combined with anything that does more;
- Use the sharing features to distribute content that is illegal, infringes third-party rights, or harasses, defames or harms others;
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source of the application except where permitted by mandatory law;
- Bypass technical limitations, rate limits, expiration mechanisms or access controls of the sharing infrastructure;
- Interfere with the Service’s infrastructure, perform load testing without prior authorisation, or otherwise degrade service for others;
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
We may remove shared content and block abusive installations from the sharing features, with or without notice depending on severity.
5. Your content
Everything you capture with Momento is created and stored locally on your machine: it is yours, entirely, and no license to us is needed or granted for it. When you explicitly share a clip or a notebook, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process and display that content, solely to serve the public link you created and only for as long as the share exists — shares expire automatically after 30 days, and you can delete them earlier with your private deletion link.
You are responsible for the content you share. Do not share anything you do not have the right to distribute, anything that infringes intellectual property rights, or anything illegal.
6. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design system, website, brand and documentation, is owned by Momento and protected by applicable laws. These Terms grant you no rights to our trademarks or proprietary materials beyond what is necessary to use the Service as intended. Open-source components bundled with the Service remain governed by their respective licenses.
7. Third-party game data and trademarks
The application integrates with the official local data endpoints and public assets exposed by game publishers, including Riot Games, Inc. and Valve Corporation, to enrich your clips with match context.
Momento isn’t endorsed by Riot Games and doesn’t reflect the views or opinions of Riot Games or anyone officially involved in producing or managing Riot Games properties. Riot Games, and all associated properties are trademarks or registered trademarks of Riot Games, Inc.
Similarly, Steam, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and related marks are trademarks of Valve Corporation. All other game-related trademarks belong to their respective owners. Use of these names is purely descriptive.
8. Service availability
The desktop application runs locally and keeps working on your machine independently of our servers. Online features — sharing, public pages, optional integrations — are provided “as is” and “as available”: scheduled maintenance, upstream outages from our infrastructure providers, or outages of third-party services (notably Steam or the games’ own local APIs after a game update) may temporarily affect them.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or that results obtained through it (including automatic tags and highlights) will be accurate or fit for any particular use.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither Momento nor its contributors will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profits, goodwill or data. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the application and (b) one hundred euros (€100).
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service or your violation of any law or third-party right.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time; your local content remains on your machine and stays yours. We may block access to the online sharing features in case of breach of these Terms, for security reasons, or to comply with legal obligations. Your Steam purchase itself is governed by your agreement with Valve. Upon termination, sections that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law) will continue to apply.
13. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes are announced on this website and within the application at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Belgian law, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Belgium, save for mandatory consumer protection rules that grant you the right to seize the courts of your habitual residence.
