Read and translate the text in an image

  1. Open an Instant in the viewer.
  2. Click the “Translate the text” icon (Languages).
  3. Choose the OCR source language when needed, then the translation language. The local pack offers 17 OCR choices and 100 translation languages; automatic OCR tries only a subset.

Copy the original text or translation. Processing runs on your PC, on demand, without sending the image or text to a translation service. It works offline with the bundled language pack; results may contain errors. If the pack is missing, update or repair the installation.

Capture an area: Snipe (Win+Shift+S)

  1. Press Win+Shift+S (by default, Momento replaces the Windows capture tool), or click the “Snipe” button in the Instants tab.
  2. The screen freezes. Pick a mode at the top: Rectangle, Circle, Freeform, or Text (OCR).
  3. Drag to select the area (a single click = full screen).

The area is copied to the clipboard AND saved to Instants. Esc, right-click or the cross cancel.

Notebook also lets you translate a text selection or the entire note on demand using the local language tools. Review the result after translation and undo with Ctrl+Z if needed.
